Paul Harland Edgerly Sr., 81, was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Ray, Minn. to Donavan Charles and Mary (Steiger) Edgerly. He passed away peacefully June 4 in Bend, surrounded by loved ones.

Paul was a Korean War veteran with the United States Marine Corps, PFC, from 1951-1953. After his service to his country, and being awarded the National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal, he began work as a carpenter building bridges and doing road work for a construction company. He was soon promoted to superintendent of the company and built many of the bridges (all of which are still standing) that span I-84 in Eastern Oregon. Other construction projects he worked on included The Dalles Dam and Max Light Rail in the Portland area.
Paul was a hard worker and provided much joy and laughter to all of his family and friends. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, waterski, snowmobile, and ATV riding with is family.
Paul is survived by his wife, Sherry (Covert) Edgerly of 59 years; daughter, Niki Ogawa and husband Gordon Ogawa of Ontario; two sons, Paul Edgerly Jr. and wife Teresa Edgerly of Prineville and Gary Edgerly and wife Wendy Edgerly of Prineville; four brothers, Conrad Edgerly of Prineville, Don Edgerly and wife Rosalie Edgerly of Portland, Ron Edgerly and wife Linda of Prineville, and Dean Edgerly and wife Nora of Prineville; sister, Linda Gantenbien and husband Steve of Boring; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donavan; mother, Mary; and three sisters, Mary, Nita and Leona; and one nephew.
