William "Bill" Harper Obituary

“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

Matthew 25:23

William “Bill” Allen Harper stepped into eternity on November 29, 2024, at the age of 69. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Bill married the love of his life; Christine “Chris” Mishler on July 7, 1985. In their nearly 40 years of marriage, they have six children and five grandchildren.

Bill was born on May 11, 1955 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He was raised in Myrtle Point, Oregon and graduated from Myrtle Point High School in 1973. Bill attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in 1977. He worked as a Parole and Probation Deputy for almost 30 years total, about 20 years in Crook County.

Bill was committed to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He lived to honor God and serve his family in a Christ-centered way. He loved to talk about Jesus and gave all glory to God for his life’s achievements. He loved his family deeply and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Bill had a passion for sports. He was a coach and fan for any sport his children played and was a lifelong Oregon Duck football fan. He had a zeal for politics and was fiercely proud to be an American.

Raised in Myrtle Point, Oregon, Bill had a love for small town living. When Bill and Chris moved to Prineville to raise their family in 1998, they worked selflessly to raise their children in a similar “country” lifestyle. His children will always remember the hard work ethic that “Dad” taught by example. Dad’s “hot cup of coffee” talks, walks on the family property, and coaching are just a few of the priceless memories he gifted his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Chris Harper and their six children: Brett, Vanessa, Hayley, Matthew, Garrett and Grace. His five grandchildren: Owen, Tatum, Katelyn, Maverick and Jocelyn. His sons-in-law Grant Crow and Brett Harris. His siblings: Susan, Sandy and Gary. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Willa Harper.
