Wesley O’Neal Swanger, 77, of Springfield, Oregon passed away in Bend Oregon.
Wesley O’Neal Swanger, the son of Wayne T., Sr., and Ruby (Holder) Swanger was born October 15, 1945 in Battle Creek, Iowa. He was the oldest of 3 siblings. He was raised on the family farm in Battle Creek, Iowa and graduated from Battle Creek High School with the class of 1963. He attended Iowa State University then later moved to Springfield, Oregon where he called home for the last 58 years.
Wesley was a bricklayer most of his life. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1 for 50 years. He loved baseball and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent many days afield with great friends at his favorite spots throughout Oregon.
He is survived by one son Rodney (Tara) Swanger, Sr., his children Nikki, R. Michael, and Wesley Swanger. His daughter Deborah Flygare and her children Alexander Flygare and Brittany (Tristin) Holt; sister Angela Swanger and her daughter Katherine; brother Wayne Thomas (Carol) Swanger Jr. and their son Carter and his fiancé Kati Steffen; many cousins, good friends, and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Ruby Swanger, sister-in-law Marty Donovan and many aunts and uncles.
A private memorial will be held with family at a later date.
