Vivian Moncrief went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday July 29th, 2021. Vivian was born and raised in Minnesota the oldest of six children. She moved to Oregon at age 19 and worked in the Portland shipyards where she met Billy Moncrief. They married and after 6 kids and a lot of moving around the Pacific Northwest thanks to his career as an electrician, they moved to an 80-acre farm outside Portland to raise their children and in the early 1970s they retired to Prineville.
Vivian was an undisputed green thumb gardener who took great pride in her gardening as her hobby and something to showcase her hard work ethic that never waivered throughout her life. She was a quilter with her Prineville Community Church group, involved in potlucks, women’s retreats, and quite notably traveled with the church youth group to Mexico more than once to help build houses while in her 70s. She enjoyed time with her large family in Prineville and writing letters to the family all around the country including Minnesota and Texas. She traveled to Hawaii, took a cruise to the Bahamas, road tripped to Texas and Minnesota, and attended the Worlds Fair in Vancouver, Canada. She also made the best monster cookies ever.
Her wit, humor, beautiful smile, and determination to always make the best of every situation will be carried on by and greatly missed by her family.
