Virginia Gladu Obituary

Virginia "Ginny" Hoppenstat Gladu was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on May 10, 1941.

Ginny spent her early years in Oradell, New Jersey with her two sisters Adele and Margaret under the loving care of her parents, Adonna and Allan.

Always an exceptional scholar, she graduated from Barnard College with a BA in French Literature and went on to earn an MBA from Simmons College.

Her eclectic life journey began by serving as a Pan Am air hostess where she captivated passengers from around the world with her special charm and impeccable French.

Later, she raised five boys; Aaron, Allan, Greg, Dan and Nathan among the oaks and maples of the New Hampshire countryside.

During these years she strengthened her dedication and leadership towards the causes of women's rights, civil rights, the natural environment, and world peace. Causes that she remained passionate about throughout her life.

Also while raising her family, Ginny began her career of teaching French to high schoolers. Years later, Ginny was instrumental in creating a world class MBA program alongside the dean of the Wittemore School of Business that continues to this day.

And finally, Ginny rounded out her teaching career as a French instructor at Coe-Brown Academy in Northwood, NH. It was here where she met her soulmate Ted Gladu. Theirs was a love story that spanned over 26 years.

On their first date they climbed Mt. Moosilauke, discovering some of their many shared interests along the way including modern art, folk dancing and music ranging from classical to Bob Dylan.

As their love grew, the two set off on an adventure that spanned the continent. Traveling and exploring far and wide, ultimately alighting upon their beloved Central Oregon sanctuary home in Tumalo, where they laughed and danced with the many kindred spirits there, forging deep friendships over their fifteen years in the high desert.

To our beloved Ginny, thank you for your gift, your laughter and your grace. We are all the better for having spent these few moments here with you.

The seatbelt sign is off, may you be free to move about the universe to dance among the stars.
