Tom Moyer Riley, age 87, passed away November 12, 2021 at his home in Prineville, OR.
Tom was born September 11, 1934 to the late Hubert and Leila Moyer Riley at Seward, Nebraska. He was raised on the family ranch at Pierce, Nebraska and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the university at Lincoln.
 After graduation he stacked hay all summer to get in shape for boot camp, then was chosen for Army Intelligence Analyst training (which he always said was an oxymoron). He served from 58-60, receiving a Good Conduct Medal and Marksmanship Badge, getting an early out for ranch work. 
He finished Army Reserves then put his degree to work at the Ag Research Service Station in Clay Center, Nebraska. From Clay Center he went on to the Range Livestock Research Center at Fort Keogh, Miles City Montana. 
In 1970 he went on to manage ranches large and smaller in the NW US and Canada.  While in Alberta, Canada he married Jo Lee Trotter Gibson June 14, 1980 and was an instant Father to Steve 12 and Cindy 11. They all moved to Oregon to manage Pine Mountain Cattle Company before striking out on their own, with their own cattle and as a Cattle Service, hauling show and sale cattle as well as trimming feet for 4H-ers and ranchers alike.
Tom insisted the kids go to college and encouraged them in all their endeavors.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister Claire and her husband Bob Hallock, and brother-in-law Ken Hughes.  He is survived by his wife Jo Lee, his son Steven Gibson (Sharon) , daughter Cindy Taylor (Brad), his twin sister Twila Hughes, nieces and nephews as well as 8 grandkids and 5 great grands.
Celebration with family and friends of Tom Riley will be Saturday November 27 at 3:30 pm at Powell Butte Christian Church.  A family style potluck will follow.
