Stella (Blume) McCauley

May 22, 1929 – July 22, 2023

On July 22, 2023 Stella Marie (Blume) McCauley went home to be with the Lord. She was 94. She passed away at her daughter Pamala’s home in Prineville, Oregon. 

Stella was born on May 22, 1929 to Charles and Hazel Clark in Caldwell, Idaho.  She spent her younger years growing up in Roland, Oregon. In 1944 The family moved to Austin, Oregon.  She attended Prairie City High School. 

 Stella met Harold Blume at Bates, Oregon. They were married in 1947.  They made their home in Bates until 1966 when they moved to the original Austin house.  They happily lived there until 1978 when they moved to Mt Vernon, Oregon.  Harold passed away in 1979.

Stella then attended the Oregon School of Electrology and Thermology in Hermiston, Oregon and received her license in electrolysis in 1980.  She moved to Ontario, Oregon and opened her electrolysis business.  While there, she met and married Robert McCauley in 1982.  They briefly lived in North Bonneville, Washington before moving back to Mt. Vernon. She lived there until earlier this year when Bob passed away.   

Stella loved to paint and do all kinds of crafts.  She enjoyed going to church and singing the old hymns. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School to many of the children in Bates. She cared deeply for her family, her neighbors, and her cats. She made sure all the neighborhood cats were always well fed. She and Bob were both avid gardeners and enjoyed sharing their vegetable bounty with their neighbors in Mt. Vernon. 

Stella is survived by her 4 children: Bruce (Gloria) Blume; Charlene (Richard) Ledbetter; Yvonne (Lynn) Lorenzen; and Pamela (Larry) Miller; 4 stepchildren: Sandra (Dan) Jackson; Marcie (Mark) Hegewald; Karleen (Jack) Ogder; Dutton (Debbie) McCauley.  She had 10 grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren, 19 step grandchildren, 29 step greatgrandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Stella was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Hazel Clark, son Michael, her first husband of 33 years Harold Blume, brothers Earl, Raymond and David Clark, her sisters Betty White and Lois Jean King, her second husband of 41 years Robert McCauley.

A memorial service will be held for both Stella and Bob at the Grace Chapel Church in Prairie City on October 21st at 11:00 AM.  A luncheon will follow at the Prairie City Senior Center.
