Stacey Rooney Obituary

Our Sunshine

“For 57 years we got to touch and hold a ray of God’s sunlight in our arms, named Stacey. And we are so much the better for it.”

Stacey Marie Rooney, on June 1, 2022 was escorted to Heaven’s door… and met with open arms at Heaven’s door by her Grandma Marie Taddonio, and her sweet little Mermaid niece, Annalyn Jean Halvorsen.

Stacey will always be remembered for her huge and tender heart, and her quick humor that could get anyone and everyone rolling on the floor – but mostly she will be remembered for her passion for her family. The love and kindness she lived daily was all-encompassing and all-welcoming - as beautiful as the sunflowers and sunshine she so loved.

Stacey was born on March 16th, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York. She lived her life large and sassy and passionately as her journey led her to San Diego, and then eventually, Bend, OR. Stacey’s talents were limitless. Truly. There was no limit to what she could do or accomplish. From sales, to business, to every single crafty art possible, she always found a way to succeed in big and beautiful ways. Stacey loved so, so many things: gardening with her husband, crafting with her sister, yard-selling, sewing, giving life back to old furniture. She loved pouring life into any project that grabbed her heart which were countless as well (and many clucked, gobbled, barked and chirped.)

…And Stacey loved God.

On November 4th, 2019, Stacey stood in the beauty of Smith Rock and married the love of her life, Gary Rooney. She would say, that it was God and Gary who brought her all the healing and love she had been looking for all her life (…except for her children of course– they couldn’t ever be outshined. Ever. )

Stacey is survived by her husband and soulmate, Gary Rooney, and her children – the pride and joy of her life: Kiani Luis, Christopher Luis, Andrew Middleton and Katie Middleton.

She is survived by her mother, Patricia Mount, her father and stepmom, Jim and Jeane Taddonio, and her mother and father-in-love, Nancy and Joe Brusati. She is also survived by her brothers, Jim Taddonio Jr., Chuck Willardt, and Joe Twomey, as well as her sisters: Denise Ferrari, Janelle DeCelles and Karen Washington, and her sisters-in-love: Cherie Jackson, Vickie Bird, and Lisa Rich. Stacey is also survived by her loving dog Brooklyn.

Stacey was able to give the gift of life through the Organ Donor Program. Her beautiful spirit will live on through others.

Stacey was always that unifying force of love– holding fiercely and completely each family member (and any chosen family she adopted as her own … you know who you are.)

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Prineville Funeral Home on Monday, June 6th at 4:00. Before service, beginning at 3:00, a quiet space and time is open to all if desired.
