Robert Leonard Frisby, Sr., 97, peacefully passed away on October 11, 2023 at his home in Prineville, Oregon. The family will hold a Celebration of Life Ceremony with Military Honors on April 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of the Nazarene, 780 E. 1st Street, Prineville, Oregon.
Robert, who usually answered to Bob, but was also affectionately known as "Pops", was born on May 7, 1926 to Thomas Leonard and Glen Leora (Parks) Frisby, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He served with the 376th Infantry Regiment in the US Army during World War II in Germany. He was awarded the Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart Medal with his Honorable Discharge in 1946.
He met the love of his life, Sharon Kay (Cauthon) Frisby in 1956 and married her on March 2, 1957 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Their marriage began blessed with Bob's two sons from his previous marriage, and they promptly added 3 additional sons and 2 daughters.
The family moved from South Dakota to California in 1966, where he worked as a professional glazier, a trade that was followed by 3 of his 4 sons. He was a true do-it-yourself man; if it broke, he fixed it, and he taught his sons to be the same way.
Bob was an active member of his church, The Salvation Army in Riverside, California. He graciously donated countless hours of his time to the church and was highly regarded by all. When he retired, he and Sharon desired a smaller community where they could grow old together. In 1993 they moved to Central Oregon, where two of their sons were already calling home. They found a nice, little house in Prineville, Oregon and immediately fell in love with the community. They sought out a new place to worship and after attending a few services, chose the Church of the Nazarene. Bob continued to be an active member of the church, donating much of his time whenever needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son David and his sister, Dorothy Gross.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, son Robert Frisby, Jr. and wife Wanda of Prineville, Oregon; son Ronald Frisby and wife Alberta of Fremont, Wisconsin; son Dennis Frisby of Prineville, Oregon; daughter Carol Sellers and husband Larry of Riverside, California; son Allan Frisby and wife Rose of Riverside, California; daughter Tina Leaf and husband William of Prineville, Oregon; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren; along with a generous number of in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
We are: FOREVER THANKFUL for all that he did and all that he was. ALWAYS GRATEFUL for the family he built and the love that he gave. ABUNDANTLY BLESSED to have him in our lives for so long.
Pops will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
