Long-time Prineville, Oregon resident, Rita Joan Ormonde, passed away peacefully at home on October 11th, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Warsaw, Missouri in 1947, Rita enjoyed her family, her pets, yard sailing, traveling and the great outdoors.  During her life, she lived in all of the western states.  With her husband Ray, she chose to retire here in Prineville in the early 1990's, following her mother, Marjorie Escover, who joined the community in the mid 1970's. Rita is survived by her four children, Tim, Michelle, Ron, and Charlotte, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at the Prineville Funeral Home at 199 NE 10th St. in Prineville, Oregon on Saturday, October 23rd at 9:00 am. Family and friends are welcome to attend and join us for brunch afterwards. Details will be provided at the service. Mom spent most of her life caring for others in some fashion. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the charities that were close to her heart - The Humane Society of the Ochocos (a no kill animal shelter), Fisher House (supports families of wounded service men and women), or the American Cancer Society. Or simply reach out to someone close to you today and tell them that you love them. She would have liked that too.
