Richard "Dick" Zachow
April 13, 1942 - February 16, 2020
Dick Daniel Zachow comforted by his family passed away at the family home on Sunday, February 16, 2020. He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister of Leavenworth, Washington.
Dick was born April 13, 1942, in Leavenworth, Washington. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1960, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball all four years. Dick graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts and a teaching certificate. At the University of Washington, Dick met Kathy MacDonald and they married in June of 1966.
Dick started his teaching career in Washington in 1965, as a wood shop teacher in high school and coached multiple sports. In 1972, the family moved to Prineville when Dick took a wood shop teaching position at the junior high. 1998, he would retire after many memorable years helping students make their own wood projects. He thoroughly enjoyed interacting with his students.
In retirement, Dick spent time creating wood projects in his shop, which he would generously give away. Dick always looked forward to bow hunting, camping, fishing and crabbing.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of nearly 54 years; his daughter Jana Waterman and son-in-law Shane; and grandchildren Jaden and Evan.
