Richard Rogers Obituary

Richard Eugene Rogers was born on October 12, 1928 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Eugene Preston Ramos and Ethylene Gladys Wood. He was a proud tribal member of The Sac and Fox
Nation through his mother’s lineage. Richard passed into the loving arms of the Lord on February 24, 1923 with his beloved wife Micki by his side. Richard attended the University of California at Berkeley from 1952 to 1953, and the University of California San Francisco from 1953 to 1956, graduating with a Pharmacy Degree in June of 1956. His long working career as a dedicated Pharmacist brought him many years of proud satisfaction. He reluctantly retired in 2006 and turned his attention to his golden years. Richard was a proud member of the United States Navy from 1945 to 1953. He served in WWII as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class and was honorably discharged on September 14, 1949. He was called back to serve in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in September of 1953. He received a WWII Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal for his service. Richard was a devout Christian and enjoyed teaching Bible studies to many church groups over the years. He loved listening to many genres of music and collected record albums and CDs that brought him many hours of pleasure. One of Richard’s greatest joys were the many dogs he and Micki owned through the years, especially his last dog, Bella. He also enjoyed reading good books, being outdoors, and spending time with Micki. Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda (Micki) Gayle Rogers, his sister Thelma Delores Rogers, his sons Gary Preston Rogers (Arlene) and Steven Craig Rogers (Sue), and his daughters Toni Gillingham (Ralph), Valorie Jean Cole (Wayne) and Virginia Lee Aguilar (Arthur). He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who were very dear to him. Richard was preceded in death by his brother Martin James Faust and his son James Nelson Rogers. A Celebration of Life will be held privately by his family. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your local Alzheimer's Association.
