Ralph Foster Obituary

Ralph Roy Foster, 80, Prineville passed at his home on Friday, February 5th in Prineville, OR. He was born on April 4th, 1940 to Roy and Vina Porfily Foster. His first two years of his life he lived on Wolf Creek in Paulina. Most of the rest of his life was spent at the family ranch in Post. He attended Newsome Creek School and Crook County High School. He graduated in 1958 and joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Knox and Augsburg, Germany.  After service he worked for various neighboring ranches around Post and spent more than 30 years working at Aspen Valley Ranch. His favorite thing to do was brand or work cattle.

He enjoyed hunting, working cattle, sharing storytelling and visiting his daughter in Arizona.  He always was cutting firewood to sell and made sure the elderly or those in need in the community had wood to stay warm through the winter. He believed it was right to take care of widows and children.  He hung up his chainsaw in 2014 but he continued to help any friend or neighbor that needed help. He had so much history of the county and the longtime families that several people would call him to find out some historical information or a good story on a ranch, family or when roads or buildings were built around the counties. He was a member of Missionary Baptists Church and later Grace Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Crook County Historical Society and Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Foster of Gilbert, AZ; siblings Gail Moore of Cherokee Village, AR and Larry Foster of Post, Oregon and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Carole, a son Roy, his parents and a sister, Frances.

Services will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Prineville Friday February 12, 2021 at 9:30  with Graveside Military Honors at Juniper Haven Cemetery to follow at 11:00 AM.
