Born in Germany during the Occupation, Quentin "Quent" "Q" Gillard, 75, of Bend Oregon passed away November 15, 2022 from complications of dementia. He is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Lauren (Byron) Lynn of Portland and son Tyson (Emily) Gillard of Bend. To his grandchildren Helen, Addie, Mae and River he was known as "Pop". He is also survived by his loyal canine companion Marley and sister Hazel Gillard who lives in London, Quent was predeceased by his father Gwyn and his mother Ruth.
Quent was extremely proud to have earned his PhD in Urban-Economic Geography from University of Chicago. After a few years as a professor, his career morphed into Environmental Consulting for high profile projects with the military. Because of the nature of his work he was able to pioneer working remotely ...finding a FedEx office in Bend and 3 flights daily out of Redmond in 1989.
As a Rotarian with Mount Bachelor Rotary Club, he found purpose in World Community Service and joy in preparing a joke for his weekly "Q Moment."
Quent will be remembered by many for his infectious smile, charismatic and easy demeanor, academic mind, good-spirited jokes and subtle British accent.
Donations may be made to Partners In Care, 2075 NE Wyatt Ct, Bend, OR 97701, who supported our journey through transitions and finally to Hospice House.
