Nyla Van Alstine Obituary

Nyla Jean Van Alstine of Prineville passed away peacefully on November 18th, 2023, with her soulmate of 26 years, 5 children, multiple grandchildren, and many other loved ones by her side.

Nyla was born in Martinez, California to Glenn and Leita Carr on January 13th, 1961. She had 3 sisters and 1 brother, Leita, Dorothy, Leanne, and Glenn.

Nyla married her soulmate Brian Van Alstine on April 16th, 1997, creating a large, blended family of 7. Nyla worked as a flagger in the Portland metro area until being run over by a dump truck left her permanently disabled in 2001. Nyla’s constant prayer after her accident was for God to afford her a second chance at life which would allow her to build her family and always be able to provide them with a safe place in her home to come to. God answered that prayer for her.

Nyla and her husband purchased their forever home in Prineville, Or. in 2005 and began building a homestead where all their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends could find refuge. She loved her family, friends, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Nyla is survived by her husband, Brian, her brother Glenn, her sisters, Leita and Dorothy, her children, Angie, Adam, Ben, Nikki, and Kristina, her grandchildren, Issac, Kassidi, Jade, Jasmine, Spencer, Timothy, Claira, Aiden, Elijah, Lucas, Dominick, Mackenzi, Emerey, Savanna, Trinity, Kayden, her Great Grand Children, Genesis, Dexter, and Issac Jr. and many other family and friends that she adored.

She is preceded in death by her father Glenn, mother Leita, and sister Leanne.
