Norman Hickey, age 68, a resident of Spray, Oregon for eight years, died on June 14, 2025 in Spray from throat cancer. He was born in San Mateo, CA and grew up in Hillsborough, CA, and spent many years in Danville, CA. He was the youngest son of seven children.
Norman was an incredibly loving man, revered by the many people whom he helped and supported. He was originally a plumber and a project manager for plumbing companies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, then moved into real estate appraisal and renovation and sales of homes, working with his wife, Kim. For him, success was measured not just by the quality of his work but by the ways in which he helped improve people’s lives. Moving to Spray allowed him to life the life he truly loved. The gorgeous setting close to the natural world, the opportunity to do his “projects”, the people he could get to know and love, all of this brought him joy.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kimberley (nee Kekoa) Hickey, his daughter, Loni Coelho (Gareth Walsh), his granddaughter, Rowan Walsh of Danville, CA, his twin sister Kathy Schmidt (Steve) of Burlingame, CA, sisters Mary Manlove (Mike) of Redwood City, CA and Jackie Grygotis of Evanston, IL, brothers Edward Hickey (Kathe) of La Selva Beach, CA, Michael Hickey (Penny) of Danville, CA, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his father James C. Hickey, mother, Gertrude Wolfsen Hickey and his oldest brother, Jim Hickey.
