Nancy J. Komlofske was born on August 14, 1940 in Whitefish, Montana to Duane and Lucille (Bonner) Watkins. The family moved to Spokane, Washington for a couple of years before settling in Portland, Oregon where she went to school and graduated from Wilson High School in 1958.
Recitation of the Holy rosary will be Friday, September 24, at 6:00 PM in the Prineville Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 25, at 9:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prineville. Interment will follow at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
She met Bob Komlofske in 1959 and they became engaged on Valentine’s Day 1960. The couple were married on July 15, 1961 in Portland, Oregon.
The couple had their first child, Sherry in 1962 and their son Randy followed in 1966.
They purchased Scotty’s Thriftway in Prineville, Oregon and moved the family there in July 1977. In 1991 they closed Scotty’s and opened the newly built Ochoco Thriftway. In 2002 Ochoco Thriftway was sold and the couple retired.
Nancy loved traveling with the Thriftway group. She loved cruises and would be the first one in the lobby area visiting with people and reading Danielle Steel novels. She also loved crafting and cooking.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 60 years, her daughter Sherry (Ken) Stewart of Medford, Oregon and her son Randy of Portland, Oregon. She is also survived by her Grandchildren: Amity (Trevor) Williamson of Medford, Oregon; Jennifer (Cody) Lindsey of Central Point, Oregon; Tami (Duston) Fender of Medford, Oregon; Michelle (Curtis) Dias of Talent, Oregon; Brittany Komlofske of Portland, Oregon; Jackson Komlofske of Bend, Oregon.
She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Collin and Emma Lindsey; Mason and Savannah Fender; Callie and Calvin Dias and Sienna Williamson.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Terry Watkins.
