Merrilyn Kay Petersen 81, a resident of Bend passed away on December 17, 2025.
Merrilyn was born on January 20, 1944 in Portland, OR to Bert and Bertha Lundquist. The younger sister to Lorretta (Robinson) and older sister to Linda (Mathieu) and Gayle (Kroll). Preceded in death by her father Bert, Bertha married Charles Bruce in 1966 and Merrilyn gained a step brother Robert C Bruce (LB).
Merrilyn met the love of her life Lewis Petersen in The Dalles when she was in the 7th grade. After moving back to Portland she graduated from Cleveland High School. Somewhere during that time Merrilyn and Lewis found each other again and they married in 1962. Merrilyn & Louie owned the Buena Vista Grocery Store in Oregon City, aka the Little Store. She also worked at the Oregon City Swimming Pool, Oregon City Skate Center, Hallmark and spent many years caring for children.
She enjoyed puzzling, sewing, cooking, playing cards, especially Canasta, Hand and Foot and Five Crowns. A lover of large gatherings of family and friends, you could always count on her to have enough food to feed an army or at least the neighborhood.
Preceded in death by her husband Lewis of 63 years and her sister Lorretta Robinson. Survived by her daughter Kim Riley (Mike), son Kevin Petersen (Ann), son Keith Petersen (Megan). Grandchildren Shauna, Nicole, Casey, Nick, Kody and Jamie. Great grandchildren, Gavin, Ryan, Aubree, Addilyn, Warren, Waylen, Paisley, Finnley, Nolan, Everley and Roarik.
