MaryLou Carter, 80, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, in Madras, OR, surrounded by her loved ones. MaryLou had been in a care facility in Madras since she broke her hip in March 2021.
MaryLou was born August 21, 1943 in the Madras, OR railroad depot to Willis and Ellen (Campbell) Roberts.
She met the love of her life, Daniel Carter, through his friendship with her brother, Lloyd. They married May 15, 1964. They lived in Prineville most of their life while raising their four children, Daniel Jr( Boone), Lonny, Laury and Cathy. Once they adopted their son, Shawn, they moved to Mitchell, OR where they lived for the next 20 years and ran the Mitchell transfer station.
Marylou was a homemaker most of her life. However she did build fence with Dan and the kids when needed. Her hobbies included needlepoint, word search puzzles and watching classic tv game shows. MaryLou was quick witted and loved by many for her humor, usually at Dan’s expense.
MaryLou is survived by her adult children; Daniel Carter Jr. (Boone), Lonny Carter, Laury Carter, Cathy May, and Shawn Carter, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
MaryLou was preceded in death by her parents, Willis & Ellen Roberts, sister Mabel Vogt, and her loving husband of 51 years, Dan.
There will be a graveside service Saturday, Dec 2, at 11:00 am at Juniper Haven Cemetery for family & friends.
