Marjorie Mary (Lampert) Holliday, known affectionately as Marj, of Prineville, Oregon, passed away after a brief illness June 3rd 2023 in Bend Oregon. Marj was surrounded by loving family members in her final hours.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Marj on Sunday July 9th 11:00 AM at Crooked River Park, 1037 S Main St Prineville.
Marj was born on October 9th1965, to Basil and Aloha Lampert in Gresham, Oregon. She spent her early childhood in Corbett, Oregon before moving with her family to Prineville, where she started grade school and graduated from Crook County High School in 1983. In 1988, Marj married her high school sweetheart, Daren Holliday. During their married years, they had three daughters: Devon, Kylee and Whitney.
One of Marj’s first jobs was working for Sprouse Reitz, a former retail store in Prineville. She really enjoyed her time there, working with the public and her wonderful co-workers. In later years, she
worked for T-Mobile and Consumer Cellular in Redmond, where she made many good friends. Marj also worked at Dairy Queen in Prineville, which was probably her favorite job, as she was able to work with her daughter Devon. Marj enjoyed many hobbies and pastimes including reading, gardening, cooking, camping, and playing games with her family. She was affectionately known as the “Nertz Queen” among her large extended family, showcasing her mastery of the card game and earning admiration from all. Marj learned this game and others during her many family camping trips with her much-loved-in-laws, “Doc” and Rosie Holliday.
Marj possessed an undeniable charm, fueled by her quick wit, sarcasm, and wicked sense of humor. Her playful banter often left friends and family in stitches. Marj had a knack for finding humor in everyday situations and could effortlessly light up a room with her infectious laughter. She had a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around her and her clever remarks and comedic timing made her a beloved presence in any gathering. Marj’s spirited personality and lighthearted approach to life will be cherished and remembered by all who had the pleasure of sharing in her laughter.
Marj is survived by her daughters, Devon, Kylee and Whitney Holliday. She is also survived by her brothers, Larry Lampert and Shawn (Wendy) Lampert; her sisters Audrey (John) Gautney and Beth Lampert. She is also remembered as the beloved and funny aunt to many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Basil and Aloha Lampert; sister-in-law, Gail Lampert; brother-in-law Rick Orr; and two nephews, John Daniel Lampert and Eric Lee Gautney.
