Larry Bunch died peacefully on the afternoon of March 26 after an eight year experience with cancer.
Larry was born in Vancouver Washington on May 20, 1961 to Ray and Fran Bunch. He was raised in the Salem Oregon area where he graduated from high school and earned a degree in culinary arts from the local community college. After a few years in the food service industry, he transitioned into the trucking industry where he spent the bulk of his career as a driver. Since 2015, he was employed with Western Heavy Haul in
Prineville. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends.
Larry experienced the emotional extremes associated with a revolving series of cancer diagnosis and treatments. Even through pain, fear, anxiety and frustration he revealed his resilience, perseverance and hope. As he approached the end of his experience with cancer, he said “I’m okay with it - I’m not happy about it - but I’m okay with it”. They say adversity builds character, in Larry’s case it revealed it , dignity, grace and humility. This is the Larry we wish you all could know.
Ultimately Larry’s passing was peaceful. At his side was his long time friend Juanita and her daughter Amanda, who together cared for Larry in his final weeks, for which the family is especially grateful. Also present were both of his brothers.
The family would like to thank Western Heavy Haul for the compassion and support they demonstrated to Larry over the many years of his health struggles. He was extremely proud to work for this organization and spoke highly of its management and his co-workers. With their support, he was able to remain in the workforce which allowed him to focus on something other than his medical issues.
The family also thanks Pat & Patti Bunch for being the local family, including Larry in their activities and visiting often during his illness.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on April 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Western Heavy Haul conference room located at 2260 NW Industrial Park Rd. in Prineville.
