Lawrence Randle of Graeagle, CA died unexpectedly on August 09, 2024 from injuries sustained in an accident. Healthy and fit at only 53 years old, his loss came as a complete shock to his family and friends, who were heartbroken by his sudden departure.
Randle was born in July 14, 1971 to Andy and Nancy (Barnes) Randle in Los Gatos, CA; the younger brother to Yvonne (Randle) Ketcher. Randle grew up in Prineville, Oregon and attended Crook County High School, where he excelled in math and science and graduated near the top of his class. An accomplished three-sport athlete competing in wrestling, track, and football, Randle won the honor of All-League Offensive Tackle in his senior year. After high school he enlisted in the US Navy, where his ASVAB score qualified him for the prestigious “Navy Nuke” power generation program, widely acknowledged as the most demanding academic program in the US military.
He served in the Navy for ten years, operating the power plant on the USS Nimitz and earning his Associates degree from Trident Technical College while collecting additional college credits from South Carolina’s College of Charleston, Central Oregon Community College, and Portland State University. In 1999 he transitioned to civilian life and was hired at the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power station in Bridgman, Michigan. He later returned to central Oregon, where he worked in mechanical maintenance at Clear Pine Mouldings and earned a journeyman electrical license as an industrial electrician. He also served for an additional ten years in the Oregon National Guard, where he built critical state infrastructure on monthly drill weekends. In 2008 he came back to Michigan’s Cook Plant as a seasonal contractor, working in both the training department and in mechanical maintenance.
Randle was a die-hard fan of the Oregon Ducks and a faithful fan of the Denver Broncos. He grew up hunting deer and elk with his family and enjoyed those outdoor pursuits tremendously until work pulled him away. Later in life, he loved playing golf, hiking, camping, cooking (and eating!!), and craft beer.
After the end of an early first marriage, Randle met Amanda (Mandy) Blake at a dance party in 2007. Randle and Mandy have been joyfully dancing, hiking, adventuring, and laughing their way through life together ever since. They chose to make their home in
the Sierra Nevada mountains, where they enjoyed outdoor activities of all kinds and where one of Randle’s chief hobbies was tending to the yard.
Friends describe Randle as humble, hardworking, helpful, solid, patient, reliable, thoughtful, generous, and kind. He went through life perpetually amused, with a remarkable ability to gently poke fun at the absurdities of everyday life and the skill and creativity to pull off a high-quality practical joke. His subtle humor and quiet wisdom will be missed tremendously by his surviving friends and family.
