Joseph W. Waibel

Joseph W. Waibel passed away on March 23, 2023 at his home in Powell Butte, Oregon. He was born January 26, 1938 in Crooked Finger, Oregon to Herbert and Evelyn (Ennis) Waibel. He graduated from High School in Brownsville, Oregon in 1957. Following graduation, he began a lifelong career of Logging and Ranching. He married Barbara Grant in 1959, making their home in Brownsville where they had their three daughters before moving to Enterprise Oregon and eventually to Powell Butte, Oregon. He married Thelma Warden in 1997 where they resided in Powell Butte until his death.  He was a lifelong member of the BPOE Elks lodge in Prineville and the Associated Oregon Loggers. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brothers Albert (Bud) Waibel, Robert Waibel, and James Waibel as well as 4 grandchildren. Surviving are his wife Thelma Waibel, sister Barbara Ann Stadstad and husband Richard, daughters Terri Anderson and husband Mike, Theresa Bex and husband Marshall both in Prineville, and Kim Morgan and husband Tim in Powell Butte and step-son Mark VanEpps and wife Tammy in Lebanon. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was known to all as Uncle Joe or Grandpa Joe. He truly loved being with family. He will be laid to rest with his family at the IOOF Cemetary in Lebanon on Friday, March 29th. There will be a celebration of life at the Prineville Elks on Saturday, April 29 at 4:30 PM
