John Puckett Obituary

John Etsell Puckett joined his wife of 38 years in heaven on October 15, 2022 surrounded by family. He was born to Woodrow “Bud” Etsell Puckett and Mary Katherine (Stiles) Puckett on October 7, 1944. He attended Ochoco Elementary, Crook County Middle school and Crook County High School.  

John married Louise Kay Gumm on May 9, 1981. Combined they have 6 children, Daughters, Shannon and Saddina, Sons Vance, Kevin, Joey and Cody. John worked at Clear Pine Moldings for many years, worked his way up to Supervisor towards the end of his career at the Mill. John always worked hard in his life but mostly enjoyed working for himself and started Johnny on the spot handyman Contracting and Puckett’s Mini Storage. If he was not working out in the yard with flowers or on his John Deere tractors, you would find him spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids out on a buggy ride with his Welsh ponies, driving his Model A or one of his camping and boating trips at the lake. He also enjoyed a competitive game of cards sitting around the dining room table with friends and family. He did love the time spent on cruises with family and friends and winters spent in Arizona.

John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Shannon and Todd Horne of Sutherlin, Son and daughter-in-law, Vance and Dee Gumm of Powell Butte, Son Kevin Gumm of Prineville. Son Joey and his wife Shellie Mason of Prinevlle. He leaves behind ten grandchildren, Chad and his wife Amy Anderson, Amber and her husband Ross Twiss, Rylee and her husband Justin Severance, Nikki and her husband John Fowler, Darren Puckett and his wife Morgan, Tiffany Puckett, Dalton Carder, Meiah Mason, Wade Puckett and numerous great grandchildren. He also leaves behind 12 brothers and sisters and their spouses. Neil and Mickey Puckett of Salem, Carolynn Chandler of Prineville, Dan and Penny Puckett of Nampa Id, Sarah Miller of Culver, Dave and Bonnie Puckett of Prineville, Sam and Cleta Puckett of Prineville, Ed Puckett of Prineville, Woody and Carolynn Puckett of Prineville, Mary and Leroy Hanes of Prineville, Dianne and Donnie Marvin of Portland, Ester Niemela of Prineville, Nathan Puckett of Prineville. 

John was preceded in death by his mother, Mary, his father Bud, his wife Louise, his brother Steve, son Cody, grandson Ryan and brother and sister-in-laws.
