Obituary

John James Jensen, 74, of Prineville, Oregon passed away on June 9, 2023, surrounded
by his family.

John was born on January 7, 1949, to John and Kitty Jensen in McMinnville, Oregon. In
school, John broke many records in track and was a very dedicated hard worker, buying a brand-
new car, a 66 Chevelle Malibu when he was a senior in high school.

After graduating from Springfield High School in 1967, John went to Lane Community
College in Eugene, Oregon where he met a beautiful young woman, Connie, who later become
his wife. John and Connie were married on June 21, 1969. Together they had two daughters,
Michelle and Laurie.

John began working for his dad, John Jensen, at Jensen Drilling Company in Eugene and
eventually became president and owner-operator of the company. His two brothers Jerry and Jeff
followed in his footsteps and became owners of the family business as well. John, Connie, and
their daughters traveled throughout the United States and Puerto Rico so that John could run
jobs, most of which were government projects. John retired in 2004 and he and Connie spent
time at the home they built on Siltcoos Lake near Florence, Oregon. John and Connie enjoyed
traveling to sunny Arizona to visit family in the wintertime. They purchased property in
Crescent, Oregon, and built their dream log home where many family memories were made. In
2018 they purchased a home on acreage in Prineville to spend time with their daughters and
growing family. They also filled their time fishing, crabbing, golfing, camping, and hunting.

John had a great personality and deeply touched many lives. He never met someone that
didn’t become a friend instantly. He would strike up a conversation and ask them where they
were from and end up knowing their life history. He was known for always having a comical side
and quoting a line (word for word) from one of his favorite movies. John always went out of his
way to help others, including family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. He was a member of
the Elks and the Masonic Lodge, and became a Shriner, participating in many gatherings and
riding his scooter in several parades.

John is survived by his loving wife Connie of 53 years. Forever cherished and
remembered by many including their daughter Michelle Kleffner and husband Devin, daughter
Laurie Coffindaffer, 8 grandchildren (Taylor and wife Alysha, Jessie and husband Paxton, Jake
and fiancé Aerial, Hailey and fiancé Kyle, Josh, Joey, Cameron and girlfriend Paige, and Jacob),
6 great-grandchildren (Cartner, Kaysen, Brinkley, Maelynn, Brook, and Colter), his sister Cheryl
Rattenberg and husband Ron, brothers Jerry Jensen and Jeff Jensen and his wife Kathy, 3 Aunts,
Margaret Wilcox, Irene Jensen, and Jonilyn Wells, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kitty Jensen.
