Jerry Verdayne Cole, age 83, of Prineville joined Jesus on January 15, 2025 due to health issues. There will be a Celebration of Life on January 25, 2025 at the Missionary Baptist Church (1870 NW Riverland Loop) of which Jerry was a lifelong member. Viewing ,11 to noon - Services begin at Noon with Pastor, Daniel Barker officiating. Refreshments to follow. Grave site services will be conducted by the Band of Brothers with full Military Honors at the Juniper Haven Cemetary.
Jerry was born July 30, 1941 to Glen Harvey Cole and Pearl Mercedes Kluge in Exeter, Missouri. He was the youngest of 7 children (Loren, Merle, Eppie, Ivon, Charlotte and Verla) The family settled in Crook County where Jerry graduated from Crook County High School in 1960. While in high school Jerry met Mina Stowell and they later married on February 25, 1961. The couple started their life in Prineville, however Jerry embarked on a military career in the United States Army and their adventure began. Their union resulted in 3 children, Cindy, Ruddy and Jeanie. During military travels, they lived in France, Germany and throughout the United States with Prineville being Jerry's listed home state during his service.
Jerry retired after 30 years of service as Command Sergent Major. He served in the Vietnam war and during his service he achieved numerous accolades, commendations and awards.
Following retirement Jerry and Mina settled on their little ranch in Prineville. During the next 30 years the family enjoyed raising cows, horses, chickens, dogs and cats. Hunting, fishing, boating, camping and being outdoors were usual family activities. Jerry is survived by his 3 children, Cindy Davenport, Ruddy Cole and Jeanie Castillo; 10 grandchildren, 8 great, great grandchildren and 2 great, great, great grandchildren. Jerry has certainly made an impact on family , friends ,and the community. He will be greatly missed.
