James Warren Wolfe 06/09/1936—03/27/2025
Jim was peacefully released from several months of a painful medical journey on Thursday, March 27th. As was his nature, he never complained and remained positive throughout.
Jim was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in June of 1936. He graduated from Coe College, also in Cedar Rapids where he played on the tennis and golf teams. Following graduation, the military draft was looming, so he joined the Army National Guard. During those six years, his unit was activated in response to the Cuban Crisis.
He joined Bankers Life Insurance company (now Principal Insurance) in Des Moines, Iowa and was soon transferred to Portland, Oregon to manage the Portland Group Insurance office. He and Karen (K.J.) were married and moved to Portland. They had three children: Eric, Jami, and Kirsti. Jim was a devoted and loving father for each of them.
John Hancock Insurance Company lured Jim away from Bankers’ Life to manage their Portland Group office, then chose him to be their Regional Vice President in San Francisco. The family moved to Moraga, California located in East Bay. Eventually, Jim took advantage of an early retirement plan from John Hancock and joined K.J. her medical software business, managing national sales.
In 2002 Jim and KJ moved to Broken Top in Bend where Jim enjoyed years of travel, golf, tennis and card-playing.
Jim was fortunate to spend his last hours in the care of Partners in Care at Hospice House.
