James “Jim” Christopher Lanning went to be with his Lord & Savior on September 4, 2021 in Prineville, Oregon. He was born in Prineville on December 8, 1969 to Michael and Dianne Lanning.
Jim served in the Army and did his basic training in Texas. He attended schools in Prineville.
He is survived by his children Anthony Lanning and Nicolle Takata; his four grand-daughters Penelope, Aubrie, Lillian and Remington; his step-children Justin Hatch and Katlyne Kempton; his mother Dianne Pioch; stepmother Anne Lanning; siblings Michele Caudle and Patrick Lanning; and his step-siblings Robin Chapell and Mitch Pioch.
Jim worked in the woods as a timber faller, heavy equipment operator and log truck driver. He also managed a hot plant for road construction and worked all over Oregon. He most recently worked driving log truck and fighting wildfires.
Jim loved hunting, fishing, camping, and his dogs Todd and Cheech. He loved going on road trips riding his Harley with friends. Jim’s laugh was contagious, and his face glowed brightest when he spent time with his family and friends. Jim will be remembered for his hard work ethic and sense of humor.
Jim’s celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 23rd at 3:30pm at Powell Butte Christian Church. Masks will be required.
