James (Jim) Oscar Hanson (86) passed away July 26, 2023. Born in Sisseton SD June 26th,
1937, to Oscar & Erma (Wilson) Hanson. He was the youngest of seven children. He was
baptized & confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton. Jim was
raised in Sisseton where he attended school and graduated in 1955 from Sisseton High School.
After graduating he moved to Montana with a friend and went to work in the mines. While in
Montana, he met his first wife Joyce Lyman, they had four children together. They moved to
Oregon in the Spring of 1962. Jim worked helping to build Pelton Dam. He went to work for PGE
as an outside/hydro maintenance foreman until he retired.
Jim loved country music, fishing, bowling, gardening, watching sports, gambling, cribbage,
cards and working in his shop. He enjoyed going on the Pendleton Wagon Train, he drove his
horse Goldie, and rode his horse Justin. He was a very accomplished farmer.
