Glenn’s Story
His journey began on November 2, 1932 in Montpelier, Idaho. He grew up with two brothers and one sister. Glenn spent summers in Tulelake, California with relatives. During High school he worked at a local Radio/TV repair shop in downtown Bend.
He graduated from Bend High School in 1952. Later, he and a friend opened a Radio/TV repair shop. Soon he would marry Alice and start a family. In the early 60s, he was hired by Tektronix and the family moved to Beaverton. At Tektronix he was recognized in over seven plus patents for his innovation.
In 1978, he married Suzanne and they lived in Aloha, Oregon. Later they moved to Redmond, OR, where he continued his work with Tektronix. In 1991, he retired as Principal Engineer after 31 years of service. He spent his retirement hiking and traveling with Suzanne and particularly loved the McKenzie River area for RV’ing and hiking. He loved hunting with his kids and grandkids.
He was a devoted member and regular attendee of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located in Prineville, Oregon.
Glenn loved the outdoors, and his interests included Ham radio, woodworking, mechanics, metal work, exercising, Star Trek shows, All cowboy shows (in particular John Wayne. He was a loving father to Brian, Howard, Pepper, David, and Robin. He loved his grandkids, Jake, Ben, Josh, Krystal, Nick and Jake T. And adored his great-granddaughter, Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harve Bateman; mother, Deborah Leonard; brothers, Harve Bateman Jr. and Forest Bateman; sister, Verla White.
Glenn and Suzanne were married for over 41 years and enjoyed every single day together.
He was called home on January 20, 2020.
