Geraldine "Jerrie" Maden Obituary

                                                Geraldine (Jerrie) Maden

                                       August 31, 1935-November 13, 2018

Geraldine (Jerrie) Maden had a faith in Christ that endured all the years of her life.  She was rewarded for that faith on November 13th when she met her Lord and Savior face to face.  Jerrie was born on August 31st, 1935, to Rev. Tommy and Mary Lee Jacobs in Slim, Oklahoma. Her parents were in ministry for sixty years.  She was an active part of their ministry by learning to play the piano at eleven years old. She also played the accordion. In eighth grade, she played piano at a small country radio station for a quartet that included her sister, Betty.

Her parents accepted a call to pastor the Prineville Assembly of God Church when Jerrie was fifteen. During that time, Jerrie graduated from Crook County High School in 1954 and went to college for a year at COCC in Bend.  She also met the love of her life, a boy from Tennessee named Raymond Maden.  He was smitten with the girl from Oklahoma, who liked to dress up in Pendleton skirts, high heels and beautiful jewelry. It was an instant attraction on both sides. They married in 1956 and shared the joy of having two children, Kathy and Kevin. Jerrie was very proud of their family and was a wonderful Grammie!

Jerrie was good at serving others. She worked at First State Bank, Sears, Montgomery Ward,  Les Schwab, Prineville Nursing Home and was a head cook at Prineville Junior High School. She had a creative side and enjoyed crafts such as pompom pillows, resin grapes and painting ceramics. She loved the beautiful quilts made by her mother and collecting colored glass. She relaxed by reading Karen Kingsbury novels and any good book with an inspirational message.

The greatest gift that Jerrie gave to our family is how she modeled faith and compassion for others. We are forever grateful for mom’s love and prayers for all of us. She spent the latter part of her life loving her grandchildren and laughing with her friends in the home she and Raymond shared for over 60 years in the Prineville community.

Jerrie was preceded in death by husband, Raymond, and a nephew, Kevin McAdoo. She is survived by Daughter, Kathy Togstad; Son-in-law, Jim; Son, Kevin Maden; Daughter-in-law, Ponda; Grandchildren, Melissa, Mike, Joshua, Jaime, Jeremy, Rachel, Shelby and Tanner; Great-grandchildren, Brennan, Ava, Cameron and Callie; Sister, Betty Cottrell; Brother-in-law, Willie; Nephews, Tim and Greg McAdoo; Brother, Sammy Jacobs; Sister-in-law, Cheryl; Niece, Janet Jacobs; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Richard, Kim, R.B. and Mary Maden.
