Longtime resident, Gerald (Jerry) Bradley Hardenbrook passed away on August 22, 2024
He was born in Prineville on July 12, 1931 to parents Earnest Milo Hardenbrook and Ruth Geraldine (Saunders). He graduated from Crook County High School in 1951. He enlisted in the US Army on June 29, 1951 and was honorably discharged on June, 28 1954. He married Virginia Lee Stewart in Redmond on March 14th, 1964. She had two children, Linda Carol and Anna Marie and she and Gerald went on to have two children Ruth Edna and Skyler Neal. Jerry worked for many years as a ranch hand for George and Betty Wittmer.
He and his wife met while square dancing at the Powell Butte Grange hall and went on to teach all of the children to square dance. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.
In January, 1982 he suffered a major stroke that paralyzed his right side and took his ability to speak. He lost his wife to cancer in December, 1985. Afterward, Jerry moved into a small place in town where he lived on his own until February of 2014 when he moved to the Carriage House. Many will remember him on his scooter going to the Tastee Treet for breakfast, lunch and coffee in the evening every day for 32 years.
Later in life he enjoyed going on daytrips with the Crook County Historical Society, the Bowman Museum and taking photographs.
He is survived by his step children Linda Morrow, Anna Gould, his children Ruth Razo and Skyler Hardenbrook, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, as well as, his sister Nedra Sunderland and brother Milo Hardenbrook and several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by both parents, his wife Virginia, Brother Harley, and Sister Ina Holman.
