April 22, 1948 – February 11, 2025
Gerald “Gerry” Glave was born in Osborn, Kansas. Son of John Glave and Stella Chatham Glave.
He graduated from Capitol High School in Boise, ID, Class of 1966. He attended Boise State University before entering the United States Air Force in 1968. He finished his degree at San Jose State University in Computer Engineering in 1981.
His military service took him all over the world. He started in Texas, and served in Japan, England and Germany. Gerry worked as an Intel Operations Tech and Radio Operator. He received an Honorable Discharge and achieved a rank of Staff Sergeant in 1977. After his military service, he embarked on a career in Silicon Valley as a computer engineer. He retired from United Parcel Service as a Project Manager. His team developed the original “DIAD” board AKA the original electronic signature pad the UPS drivers used when they delivered packages. He was an integral member of the team that delivered the first four prototypes.
Gerry was an avid outdoorsman. His most memorable trip was to Namibia, Africa in 2010, where he had the opportunity to partake in a hunting safari.
He was President of the Redmond Rod and Gun Club for eleven years. He was a certified range master and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Gerry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pamela, his four children: Todd (Kelly), John (Patsy), Heather (Alex), and Melanie (Brett), his eight grandchildren, three great- grandchildren, his brother Roger Glave, his wife Susan, and nephew Travis (and his sweet little dog Maddie).
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Stella.
