Ernest “Ernie” F. Edwards, a long-time resident of Prineville, OR, died peacefully on Sunday, April 16, 2023. He was born on October 24, 1935, to Ernest and Lucille (Thompson) Edwards in Prineville, OR.
Ernie led a very fulfilling life. After graduating from Crook County High School in 1954, he joined the United States Navy, where he served as a Corpsman aboard the USS Hancock from 1954 - 1957. He then went on to college at Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls, graduating in 1960.
He and Diana Brahm were married on July 25th, 1959. The family then moved to Springfield, OR, where he worked at Alexander's Department Store until relocating back to Prineville in 1974. Here, he managed the Town & Country clothing store from 1974 - 1976. At that point, Ernie went to work for Ochoco Lumber Company, where he spent the rest of his career until retiring in 1997.
Sadly, Ernie lost his wife Diana of 56 years in July 2015. In 2017, he met Lynda Smith and found a great deal of joy in spending time with her. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, going to car shows, and spending time with family and friends. Ernie was a well rounded man who enjoyed a cold beer, a good book, classic cars, and traveling. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Ernie is survived by son Daniel J. Edwards of Prineville, OR, daughter, Donna (Jim) Groves of Prineville, OR, four grandchildren, Mindy (David) Miranda, Eric (Danielle) Groves, Lindsay (Matthew) Cartier, Brad (Amanda) Groves, nine amazing great-grandchildren, and adored nieces and nephew.
