Ernest Rex McKenzie

Ernest Rex McKenzie, 92, of Prineville, passed away March 16, 2026. He was born August 15, 1933, to parents, John and Rosie McKenzie in Prineville, Oregon

Ernest served in the military and then spent 40 years working for the U.S. Forest Service, retiring in 1988. Ernie was a Boy Scout leader for almost 50 years. He earned several awards from both the U.S. Forest Service and Boy Scouts of America. He also did volunteer work for the Prineville Senior Center. Ernie was a confirmed bachelor.

He is survived by niece, Marietta Telfer and nephews, Larry Sample and David McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth and Calvin McKenzie; and sister, Dawna Risland.

Funeral Service is scheduled for Wednesday March 25th at 11:00 am at Prineville Funeral Home.
