Nissen, Dorothy May "toots", "dot"

Dorothy May Nissen, 95, known to family and friends as "Dot" or Toots" passed away Sunday October 25th.
She was born in Ottowa, Illinois to Burton C and Johanna Tuftee; and was the oldest daughter of 6 siblings.
Married John H Nissen on September 14, 1949 in Dewitt Iowa. They had two children, JoAnn Horton of Prineville, Oregon and Jerry L Nissen of Corvallis, Oregon.
Dorothy enjoyed sewing, quilting, crochet, and playing cards with friends and family. She was an active member of the Prineville Community Church. She was also a member of the Crook County Quilt Guild and made numerous chemo quilts for St Charles Cancer Center. She was very proud of her career working in the Aero Space industry for North America Rockwell. She worked on the mock-up wire harness for the Apollo 11 space capsules and was the lead on the line to make circuit boards on the control panel.
She was preceeded in death by husband John H Nissen, granddaughter Kimberly Heather Horton, 2 brothers and a sister.
Survived by three sisters, Lois, Georgeann and Hariett all of California. Daughter Joann and son in-law Ray Horton, son Jerry L Nissen, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grand children, 1 great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. A special thank you goes out to the wonderful nurses and staff at Regency Nursing Facility and the Hospice staff.
