Donna (U'Ren) McCormack Obituary

Donna passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023.

Donna was born March 26, 1933, in The Dalles, Oregon to Charles and Veva (Bolter) U’Ren.  Donna graduated from The Dalles High School in 1951 and Oregon State University in 1955.

Donna started teaching at Crook County High School in 1955.  On June 16,1957, she married Wm R McCormack.  Married for 61 years side by side, they grew their family and worked the ranch on Bear Creek in Crook County.

Donna belonged to the Crook County Stockgrowers and Oregon Cattleman’s Association as well as the Crook County Cowbells and Oregon Cattlewomen Association, The Center for Holistic Resource Management, Crook County Historical Society and a founding member of the Country Natural Beef Cooperative as well as the Bear Creek Tennis Club.

Donna’s main interests were her family and ranch life.  She enjoyed playing tennis and later enjoyed playing golf with her friends.

In her early married years, she was the cook for the hired help (some would say that was the only reason they stayed to work was Donna’s cooking).  She helped wherever she could on the ranch, always said she had her doctorate in pipe glueing for all the miles of pipeline that was laid out to water the cattle on the ranch. She fixed meals often for all of us, ran the swather when needed and helped move equipment around. She was always willing to lend a helping hand.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wm R McCormack.  She is survived by her children, Wm D (Bill) McCormack (Jeri), Jeff (Runinda) McCormack of Prineville and Kelley (Steve) McHugh of Eugene.  Grandchildren Christopher (Valerie) McCormack of California, Cindy (Tyler) Glover of Redmond, Holli (Ryan) Kingsbury, Tyler (Barbara Jayne) McCormack of Prineville, Allison McHugh of Arizona and Megan McHugh of New York, step grandchildren Kurt (Jamie) McCormack of Burns, Janey McCormack of Hermiston.  Great grandchildren, Cody and Charlotte McCormack, Madison and Payton Glover, Cassidy and Emmitt Kingsbury and Hugh, Bexley and Leddy McCormack. She is also survived by her long-time friends Mary Russell and Nancy Yancy.

Memorial contributions may be made to Redmond Hospice (732 SW 23rd St, Redmond Oregon 97756), Crook County Historical Society (246 N. Main St., Prineville, Oregon 97754) or Shriners Hospital for Children (844-739-0849).
