Donald "Don" Marvin Sr. Obituary

The world became a little less bright on March 28th, with the passing of Donald “Don” Franklin Marvin Sr. Born on December 13, 1948, in Bend Oregon. He passed in his sleep with his wife at his side in their home in Prineville, Oregon.

Don grew up in Crook County and earned his degree from Oregon State. Raised his family and was an owner of his own business in Portland until he retired.

Don was in love with his high school sweetheart Diane and they were married for 58 yrs. He was a devoted father to Angela, Donnie and Doug (Deveda), grandpa to Colton (Libby), Kiersten (Kristina), Kylynn, Haidyn and Natalee, and a great grandpa to George, Nathan, Lexi, Gracie, and Liv. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Catherine Marvin and brother Robert Marvin Jr. Survived by his sisters Marilyn (Kevin) and Karen, all his nieces and nephews.

Don instilled strong values in his children, showed unconditional love to his family, and always made sure to say, “I Love You.” His family was his pride and joy, and his greatest role in life was being a grandpa. Whether he was telling jokes, cooking breakfast, or showing off his trivia skills, he was a person you could count on. He had close friends, Gary and Linda who loved to vacation, camp, and explore with him.

He enjoyed the simple life of movies, travel, nature, and food. Don's love of any sweets from popsicles to chocolate, ice cream and cake brought laughter and joy to everyone around. He was a “big kid” at heart and Disneyland was his happy place.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Don will take place on May 17th, 12:30-3 pm at Bowman Museum. He will be put to rest at Juniper Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Veterans or a Charity of your choice.
