David Alexander Wene (1958-2021)
David was born January 15th, 1958 in Boise, Idaho to Johnny A. Wene, and Sharon P. Cantwell.
David peacefully passed away at the Hospice House in Bend, Oregon on March 21st, 2021.
When David was a baby, his mother relocated her young family from Boise, Idaho to Oregon
City, Oregon. It was there that she met and married Frank Schreiber. Their next home, and
one that David remembered fondly, was a little cabin in the woods located in Tenmile, Oregon.
He attended the local school there, and then just before high school the family moved to
Myrtle Creek, Oregon where David attended South Umpqua High School for 3 years. He left
after his Junior year to further develop his passion for art and graphics by attending the
Portland Art School. The training he received there became the foundation of his career later
on. It wasn’t that long after that when his work took him to Nevada where he met, and later
married, the love of his life Candace M. Palmer.
David was preceded in death by his two brothers John Wene and Danny Wene Schreiber, and
his parents Frank and Sharon Schreiber.
David leaves behind his other brother Michael Schrieber, his wife Candace M. Wene, and their
children Rae E. (Palmer) Hammond, Todd Hammond, Garrett A. Wene, Ashley Wene, Kevin
Wene, Danielle Wene, two grandchildren Anthony and Dayshia Hammond, and his niece Jodi
Schreiber and her son Jacob.
P.S. “You dropped your pocket.”
