Darlena Fern Messier-Odle born August 5th, 1944 passed away on Friday May 2nd, 2025 at the age of 80. Having beaten cancer at least 4 other times, she ultimately succumbed this time after a relatively short battle. Dee was an incredible person, a beautiful, caring soul and she loved and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was best known to her friends and family as either Dee, Mom, or Gran.
Dee is survived by her husband, Richard Odle, of Prineville, OR; her three children: son Wayne Messier and his wife Kim of Sunriver, OR; daughter Vera Thornhill and her husband Don of Riddle, OR; son Baron Messier of Grants Pass, OR as well as her adopted son (in heart) Mike Trinity of Cave Junction and Richard’s daughters: Lisa Nielsen and her husband John of Redmond, OR and Debbie Pryse and her husband Tim of Sandy, OR,
Dee is also survived by her three grandchildren: Jessie Ibrahim of Riddle, OR; Stevie Lee and her husband Ty of Redmond, OR; and Jerika Sheets and her husband Donavan of Riddle, OR in addition to her five great-grandchildren: Jaiden Messier and his wife Ari of LaPine, OR; Isaiah Ibrahim of Riddle, OR; Karsyn Sheets of Riddle, OR; Paisley Sheets of Riddle, OR; Jack Lee of Redmond, OR; and soon to be great-granddaughter Sunny Lee of Redmond, OR. In addition, she leaves behind Richard’s five grandchildren: Grant Smith, Alex Smith, Ryan Smith and Maxwell and Molly Nielsen from Redmond, OR and his beloved nephew, Raymond Saunders and his wife Melisa from Coalville, UT.
Dee’s four nieces and two nephews in OR, CA, WA and FL, countless friends far and wide including from The LaPine and Prineville Bands of Brothers and her church family from Prineville Seventh Day Adventist church will also miss Dee deeply.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate in Dee’s name to the Prineville Band of Brothers.
Services will be held on Friday May 9th at Prineville Funeral Home located at 199 NE 10th Street in Prineville at 10AM, followed by a graveside service at Juniper Haven Cemetery located at 1555 N Main St. in Prineville at 11AM.
