Clayton Marshall Berman 23, of Prineville, OR, tragically passed away on August 23rd , 2024.
Clayton was born on June 23rd , 2001 in Bend, OR to Lanny Berman (Prineville, OR) and Neva
Allen (Powell Butte, OR). Clayton attended Powell Butte Charter School kindergarten through
eighth grade, graduating from Crook County High School in 2020. Clayton’s sudden absence
leaves a huge void for his family and friends. They find comfort in the many memories of him.
Clayton was humble, he had a big heart, he was the class clown, possessed undeniable charm,
quick wit, and incredible sense of humor. Clayton’s love of life was evident in the way he lived,
spending time with family and friends. Clayton knew no strangers. Even just sitting on the
porch with Clayton, turned into a fun time.
Clayton would help anyone that needed or wanted help without hesitation. He had an
incredibly close and loving relationship with his family and never walked away without hugging
you and saying I love you or ending a phone conversation without saying I love you.
Age did not equate to who his friends were. He was an old soul who’s vast family of friends
were not only from his childhood, football, baseball, wrestling, swimming, and school but also
included a lifetime of his parent’s friends.
Clayton participated in many sports from a very young age. Swim team, football, wrestling, and
baseball. Clayton excelled in all sports, but his heart belonged to football. He was athlete of the
week for football in October 2018 and was voted for Big Playback of the week on KTVZ for the
week of September 20th, 2019. Clayton loved his sport families not only his teammates but his
coaches.
Clayton loved all things in life, his favorites were hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, cooking,
shooting trap, movies (especially about history), video games and going bull frogging. Clayton
would spend many hours after school and weekends fishing, duck and goose hunting on the
ponds at his childhood home in Powell Butte. If successful at bull frogging, Clayton loved to
prepare frog legs for anyone who was around to enjoy them with him for dinner. Clayton always
helped with anything on the farm from irrigating to working cattle. Clayton started shooting trap
at a very young age and won many awards during the Spud Allen Memorial Trap Shoots.
Clayton loved doing brain teaser puzzles and solving riddles. Many nights he would sit with
family solving riddles and brain teaser puzzles, which there were very few he would not solve
first.
Clayton worked various jobs during high school including changing irrigation for Rich and
Deanna Evans and at his dad’s business Central Oregon Butcher Boys, where he continued to
work as a meat cutter until he ran ahead of us to Heaven.
Clayton is survived by his mom, Neva Allen and stepdad BJ Allen. His dad, Lanny Berman and
stepmom Kiley Berman. His grandparents, Larry and Dail Hacker, Don and Dee Berman, Dan
and Connie Chamness, Ron Storey and Roger and Susan Chapman. His Girlfriend Alyson
Thomas. His siblings, Becca Avery and (Jordan), Kierra Allen, Mica Allen, EJ Allen, Jaycie
Pucket, Macey Schemmel (Brogan), four uncles, three aunts, many cousins, five nephews and
two nieces and many, many friends.
He is proceeded in death by his grandparent, Spud Allen. Great grandparents, Sid and Joyce
Hacker, Lyman and Margaret Falk, Art and Evelyn Chamness, Floyd and Evelyn Rachor, Larry
and Myrtle Berman, and Clarence and Artice Allen.
