Cheryl Lea (McCallister) Alger
February 28, 1957 – October 31, 2021
Cheryl Lea (McCallister) Alger passed into the arms of Jesus on October 31, 2021, with her family by her side, after battling a long illness. Cheryl was 64 years old when she entered Heaven’s gates.
Cheryl was born to Vernon David McCallister and Clara Belle (Smith) McCallister in Prineville, Oregon, on February 28, 1957. She grew up in Prineville, attending school from Kindergarten through High School, her Senior year was 1975. Cheryl had many jobs over the years including waitressing, millwork, retail/customer service, and caregiving (for both children and seniors and disabled). She had many friendships throughout her life and was a true blessing to the many souls that she had touched.
Cheryl was one of the most kindhearted and compassionate people you could ever meet. She selflessly shared the love within her heart and soul, to help and nurture not only her family, but all those who came across her path. She loved helping others and welcoming them into her family. She also loved to garden, and always grew large gardens, those that would provide a large amount of produce for home canning to eat and share with her family, friends and anyone who was in need.
For those who knew Cheryl, you know she was always up for a great adventure. She was the most kind-hearted and amazing woman you could have ever had come across your path. While working at Brightwood Mill in Redmond, Oregon, Cheryl met her husband, Kevin Duane Alger. They were married for 24 happy years, and made their home in Prineville. They shared many wonderful memories and adventures along the way.
We are so thankful and blessed in knowing that she is at peace, and is dancing in the arms of our Lord Jesus.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Kevin D. Alger, daughters, Sharmane R. (Koops) Thorson and Jessica Alger; brothers and sisters, Shirley Morgan, Dale (Ramona) McCallister, Cathy (Clay) Weigum, Christi (Steve) Vogt; grandkids Isiah (MorganAnn) George, Dustin Thorson; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sons, grandparents and many other beloved family members.
At this time her family has decided to have her celebration of life at a later date. Notification will be posted as the time gets closer.
