Charles J. (Chuck) Wettstein, 87, peacefully passed away Wednesday, May 9th at his home in Prineville, Oregon. Chuck was born April 23, 1931 in Daly City, CA.
He attended St. James Boys High School in San Francisco, CA, Class of 1949. Coached Riordan’s Boys H.S. varsity basketball for two years. He also served in the Army during the Korean War; retired as an Inspector with the SF Police Dept and worked as the Director of Security, SWISS Bank Corp, SF. He is survived by his wonderful wife and best friend for over 66 years, Dee (Holland) Wettstein, his loving daughters, Linda Christ, of Birdsboro, PA (son-in-law Peter Christ, M.D.), Susan Markie, of Fair Oaks, CA (son-in-law Don Litchfield). Also surviving are grandsons, Matthew Christ (wife Melissa), of Lewis Center, OH, Daniel Christ, Spring Hill, TN, and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Nicholas Christ.
A most beloved husband, dad, Grampy, and friend, we will always treasure the memories of his laughter, jokes, love of nature, his special bond with Rosie Girl, (his dog), and all the family vacations and adventures with his loving family.
Chuck loved retirement in Prineville for the past 26 years and loved to work in his garden while feeding and caring for all of God’s wildlife.
Chuck was an avid, faithful football fan of the San Francisco 49ers, attending all five Super Bowl victories. He also enjoyed participating in the Central Oregonian Football Contest and was a six-time winner.
Chuck loved his life on earth but was patiently awaiting the Lord to call him home.
