Carolyn Lee (Puckett) Chandler went to be with the Lord on June 14, 2024. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
Carolyn was born to Mary and Bud Puckett on April 27th, 1936 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The Pucketts moved to Prineville around 1940 to raise potatoes and children and they raised a lot of both. Carolyn was proud to be one of the 14 Puckett kids and often talked about her large family.
On August 17, 1955, she married John Edward Chandler. Johnny, was the love of her life. They celebrated their 66th anniversary the year he went to Heaven.
Carolyn began attending the Prineville Nazarene Church when she was 14 and was involved in multiple ministries throughout the years. She welcomed many people into her church, home, and heart.
Carolyn lived in Prineville most of her life, other than following Johnny on some adventures: the army in Tennessee, college in Nampa, and farming in Nevada.
She graduated from Crook County High School in 1955. Carolyn was a hard worker. She grew up helping her dad in the potatoes. While her children were home she stayed at home with them and spent some time in the potato fields, at the church daycare, and at the mill. She worked full time at the mill for 15 years before she retired. Following retirement, Carolyn stayed busy with her grandchildren, ministry, and rental properties.
Carolyn was a devout Christian, a loving and devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, hard worker, and spitfire.
Carolyn loved playing music, the piano, accordion, and harmonica usually Christian songs for her family, church, and people she visited. Carolyn’s life revolved around God, her husband and family and loving others. Even as Carolyn’s memory faded, her love for the Lord stayed strong.
She continued attending church at the Carriage Place and played gospel music each week with her son Lewie.
Carolyn is survived by her children: Lewie (Georgia) Chandler of Prineville, Tim Chandler (Kathleen) of Prineville, Meg (Wes) Tucker of Madras, and Robin (Brad) Olson of Powell Butte; her grandchildren: Tayva, Christina, Lewie, Alena, Carrie, Emily, and Daniel; and 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. She is also survived by her siblings: Neil, Sarah, Dave, Dan, Sam, Nathan, Mary, Ed, Esther, Diane, and Woody.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Johnny the love of her life.
Her parents; two brothers: Steve and John; daughter-in-law, Michelle; and grandson,
Tommy.
Words cannot describe how much Carolyn was loved or how much she will be missed.
A Celebration of Life for Carolyn will be held at the Prineville Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 at 1pm. A reception will follow.
