In Remembrance of Carolyn Sue Demaris
7/17/1938 – 4/19/2026
Carolyn Sue Demaris was born in Antlers, Oklahoma, to parents Samuel and Edith (Harkey)
Lasater. Sue was the second youngest of 11 siblings. The family moved from Oklahoma to
Prineville Oregon after WWII.
Sue attended school and graduated class of 1956. She met Clinton Demaris in 1956 and they
married. Prineville became their home where they raised 3 sons, David, Rick and Todd. Sue
loved her children was and amazing wife, and mother.
Sue enjoyed various jobs throughout he, life including working at Scotty’s Thriftway, Erickson
Department Store, Ochoco Irrigation Department and Dr. Kvortek. In 1979 Sue chose to stay at
home and was able to spend quality time with Clint and her sons. Clint was a timber faller, so
summers were spent in the woods of Oregon camping. Sue loved these times and made many
friendships with other wives. Two of these women became her great friends, Ruby Garside and
Sue’s sister- In Law Donna Demaris.
Clint and Sue began to enjoy slowing down once boys were raised and began some traveling.
They spent time in Arizona with Clint’s Brother-in-Law and went frequently to Rick and Janets in
the Valley where they enjoyed their grandchildren. They also were able to experience the
wonders of Alaska with David and Donna and their family fishing and exploring.
In 1998 Clints unexpected death was a huge loss to Sue and her family. Though a devastating
loss, Sue was resilient, and began to move forward in life. Her, and her partner in crime, sister
Jan, began to travel seeing much of the United States. Sue told stories of visiting Son Todd and
wife Lisa in Louisiana with some wild weather and alligators. Their sister Ann also became part
of their travel adventures.
After traveling Sue stayed busy and active joining the Elks club and enjoying getting together
with her friends weekly to play cards.
In 2023, Sue began to experience some health issues and she made the brave choice to become
a resident of Carriage Place. She settled in, and again, her strength, courage and love for life
was a light to others.
Sue went home to be with the Lord, on her beloved husband Clints birthday April 19, 2026. She
will be greeted with rejoicing in Heaven by Clint, son David, and all of her family and friends
gone before her.
Clint and Sue’s legacy lives on through their family, Rick & Janet, grandchildren, Tom, Nic and
Shelby and 3 great grandchildren, their son Todd & wife Lisa, grandchildren Dylan and Levi.
Clint and Sue’s eldest son David went home to be the Lord November 11, 2022. David is
survived by wife Donna and children, Clint, Tyra, and Sheena and 14 great grandchildren.
Sue will be greatly missed. She was beautiful, kind, and generous with her love. Her family will
pull on the gift she imparted to them order to move forward, strength, courage and resilience.
Sue was cherished by all who had the honor to be part of her life. The love she shared became
apparent in her time in Carriage Place when so many showed up and took part in caring for her.
Shelby, Sue’s granddaughter who also became her caregiver wrote these words which bring life
to Sues Life:
She was one the kindest, most gentle soul I’ve ever known. She loved
deeply, laughed easily, and made everyone around her feel calm, safe and cared
for. She truly had a way of making people feel special just by being herself.
Forever, will we be grateful for the memories, every laugh and for her love.
