Carol Gilbert, owner and operator of Overland Ranch and Farrier Supply, passed away Thursday 2/19/2026 at Partners in Care Hospice House after a traumatic fall.
Sharon Miller, her life partner, preceded her in death. Together Carol and Sharon raised and trained numerous Arabian horses on the ranch they developed and maintained.
Carol rode, trained, and shod both endurance and Arabian National and Reserve Champion trail horses. She was a kind, generous, quiet, hard working, and spirited woman. She and Sharon sold 4-H market piglets in the 1980-90's (including a reserve grand champion Deschutes County Market Hog).
Carol mentored many in the care, conditioning, trimming and shoeing of horses. Any animal in her care lived a long and healthy life.
A Celebration of Live with an opportunity to share stories will be Saturday, March 28th from 2-4 pm at Prineville Funeral Home. 199 10th St Prineville, OR 97754.
