Carl Gene Adams, 72 of Prineville, Oregon, went to go be with the Lord on Friday, April 23rd at sunrise. Carl suffered medical complications from Agent Orange, which he was exposed to during his time in Vietnam. He was born on July 15th, 1948, in Bakersfield, California, to Vela Leru Wyatt Adams of Green County, Arkansas, who dedicated his life to his family and his lifelong friends. Carl was an active member of Juniper Canyon Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his church family.
Carl and his family moved to Prospect, Oregon in 1955. After Carl graduated from Prospect High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps and spent two tours in Vietnam - where he was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Citation, and a Vietnam Combat Action Ribbon. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1970, and in the mid-70’s, Carl moved to Central Oregon where he raised his two oldest sons. In 2007, Carl and Jennifer Goodspeed Adams started their life together and soon married in 2013.
Carl is preceded in death by his mother Vela Leru Adams. He is survived by his siblings, Brenda Sue Harris (Don Harris) of Portland Oregon, Vernon Ray Adams (Suzon Adams) of Prineville Oregon, and Wendel Scott Adams of Hermiston Oregon, his children, Jesse Gene Adams (Amy Adams) of Hermiston Oregon, James Lee Adams (Lindsey Adams) of Ridgefield, Washington, Kristian Robert Goodspeed of Prineville Oregon, Kelsey Alexandra Goodspeed of Prineville Oregon, Makayla Alana (Trent Johnson) of Yakama Washington, Sidnie Ann Adams of Prineville Oregon, and Jacob Harrison Adams of Prineville Oregon, as well as seven grandchildren: Ryley, Reese, Regan, Beckett, Myles, Leeya, and Weston.
A memorial service honoring Carl’s life will be held at Juniper Canyon Baptist Church in Prineville, Oregon on Saturday May 1st at 2:00 PM.
