In 1961, she met the love of her life, Phillip Morsman, an MP for the US Army, on a blind date. They married on February 7, 1964.
In 1965, Phil was given orders to return to the US, and Brigitte accompanied him back home to Gresham, OR. They welcomed their first daughter, Renate, in June of that year. While in Gresham, she worked at a nursing home and as a waitress at a restaurant. They welcomed their second daughter, Brenda, in 1968 and moved to Madras, OR. In Madras, she worked at Mt. View Hospital as a nurse’s aide and was also a business owner.
