Bonnie Lou Puckett

Bonnie Lou Puckett, born on November 16, 1940, in Finley, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, in Prineville, Oregon, at the age of 85. She lived a beautiful life rooted in family, hard work, and a deep love for growing things.

Bonnie married the love of her life, Dave Puckett, in 1960, and together they built a partnership that lasted 65 years, a milestone the family joyfully celebrated in September 2025. Over the years, Bonnie worked seasonal jobs harvesting potatoes and working at Pacific Fruit, but her true passion bloomed when she and Dave opened Puckett's Bedding Plants. Together they operated their nursery for many years, working long hours seven days a week, growing vegetables and flowers that filled not only their own yard but the yards of family, friends, and neighbors throughout the community. Theirs was always the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood, and Bonnie wouldn't have had it any other way. Even when a bad knee made it difficult to walk, her family would find her outside pulling weeds or watering plants. They tried to discourage her, but that was where she wanted to be, and there was no stopping her.

Bonnie was one of the most calm, kind, and patient people you could ever meet. She was a true "stop and smell the roses" kind of person who taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren through her patience and wisdom about the things she loved. She was never afraid to learn something new, taking classes in cake decorating and flower arranging just for the joy of it. She also gave her time as a hospice volunteer, offering others the same gentle compassion that defined her character and was the same organization that assisted her at the end of her life.

Above all, Bonnie loved her family, especially the babies. They always made her smile, and she delighted in cheering on their first accomplishments. Even as dementia took hold in her later years, those moments of joy would wash over her again and again, each time as fresh and exciting as the first. It was a cruel disease, but there were small blessings in the way she got to experience that pure wonder over and over.

Bonnie was a faithful member of the Nazarene Church in Prineville, and her gentle spirit reflected the love she carried in her heart every day.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dave Puckett; her children, Becky and Doug Groves, David and Shelly Puckett, and Mark and Kathy Puckett; her grandchildren, Adam Groves, Katie Ferrulli, Dani Hanson, Trevor Puckett, Jared Puckett, Anthony Puckett, and Mason Puckett; her great-grandchildren, Raiden Ferrulli, Raziel Ferrulli, Rowen Ferrulli, Emery Groves-Liles, Cason Hanson, Luke Hanson, Jack Hanson, Theo Puckett, Alice Puckett, Robin Puckett, Ryan Puckett, and Rylie Puckett; and her sisters, Jewel Delong and Shirley Hayes, who meant the world to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Sr. and Virgie Williams, and her siblings, Lola, Mae, Lucille, Willie Jr., Walter, Gladys, Fern, and Eddie.

A memorial service for Bonnie will be held at the Nazarene Church in Prineville, July 10th at 2:00 p.m., with a dinner to follow. The family invites all who knew and loved Bonnie to come together and celebrate a life that made the world a more beautiful place.
