Betty L. Mattern, 94, passed away at her home with family by her side on December 1st, in Prineville. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, December 23rd, at 2 p.m. Rick Burhart will officiate. She was born August 6, 1929, to Dave and Hazel Walker, in Sherwood North Dakota.
Betty and (her husband) lived on a farm for many years before moving to Oregon where she spent most of her time as a homemaker raising 6 children and helping her husband Elden with his contracting business.
Betty found joy in the company of her family, gardening, and playing cards. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she enjoyed sharing in the ministry, talking and writing to others about the Bible and the hope it holds out for mankind.
She is survived be her children: Beverly and (Darrel) Holliday, Dale Mattern, Jerry and (Debbie) Mattern, Dianne and (Carl) Goodwin, Shelly and (Carl) Rapp, and Kim and (Steve) Bates; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Hazel Walker; five brothers, Jim, Roy, Glen, Bob, Kenny, and four sisters, Pearl, Florence, Leona, Marlys.
